HALFBACK Josh Holmes is set for a shock return to Super Rugby from as early as next week after signing for the Western Force.

The Daily Telegraph understands the Force have signed Holmes for the remainder of the season, luring him back from French club Bourgoin after he was released by the Waratahs last year.

Holmes was called up for the semi-final against the Blues in Auckland but revealed on the eve of the match that NSW had told him to negotiate with other clubs, given their focus on South African Sarel Pretorius.

Seemed to be similar players.

Holmes has a much better pass then Burgess but he had this real annoying shuffle before passing. he can also play fly half i believe at club level.

Holmes had amazing potential. He didn't really live up to it much at the Waratahs but who knows what a change of scenery could bring.

After picking up several of the 'Tahs rejects and turning them into fantastic rugby players I would say it's a good thing they didn't want him.

Brett Sheehan's game on Friday would be my first justification!
