    Back in the day...

    What was/is your playing experience.
If both then put the one you have strongest connection to.

Just running a theory with myself, I have a feeling there are more Forwards than Backs who hang around in later years.

Use to be a pretty handy winger then I became a lock and ended up playing my last game ever as a Prop

Sad to say, I only discovered the game later in life.

God invented beer to stop prop forwards from taking over the world.

As a young mungo I was a 5/8 then lock ( No8 for the uninitiated). But as genetics, and later on beer, took over I was promoted to the mungo 2nd row and hooker/prop for Rugby. I'm proud to say I played all positions absolutely without distinction.

Initially I was scrum-half, but that was mainly because I was one of the few kids who knew anything about the game. Once other kids learned the rules I was quickly shifted to the front row and have stayed there. Never played at any great level, although I did play at Farnham where a (very) young Jonny Wilkinson was a few years behind me. He was good even then.

Sounds familiar TFG. Had a bit of pace so started as a winger, before seeing the light and moving to flanker. Ended playing days as a lock. Good times.

Once it was realized how slow I was I was told I'd make a good hooker. And there I stayed.

    Started as a 5/8

Went to UWA where 3 of the 5/8 from my PSA year were vying for that spot. I moved out to the centres, as I was a faster runner than the other two.

Played on the wing for my brief stint in Uni 1sts.

Never played in the forwards. Ever. And I am at peace with that. My shorts remained clean and my hair unruffled
