This is a Rugby forum for me and I don't like too much politics creeping in. But, as the heat has gone out of this dispute I thought I'd raise a fact or two on this thread.
As of last Saturday the only industrial action taking place was the pilots wearing ties.
The Engineers had suspended any industrial action.
Qantas decided to go ahead with their premeditaed plan anyway.
What do you think the reaction would have been if the unions had pulled a full-on stoppage, in the middle of CHOGM, the Queens visit and a couple of days ahead of then Melbuorne Cup?
The whole nation would be calling for them to be outlawed as industrial terrorists of the worst kind. But that's exactly what that sawn-off little Irish git did. He saw the opportunity and held the nation and the government to ransom. The most any of the usual H R Nicholls brigade (are you a member Rex?) will say is that they had no choice. Bullshit. Worse still, many of these free marketeers are claimning the government should have become involved earlier. HR would have had them charged with heresy!!
