I agree with you TOCC, but by definition, a marquee slot is a short term signing.

SBW isn't my pick, certainly, but the centres is certainly the place we should be looking for cover, since losing JOC leaves a big hole in our succession plans. Throw a real, international quality player in there for two years whilst the local kid learns the trade from him and gets blooded for a start in the medium term.

Personally, I think Sonny Bill would carry many of the same attitude issues that too many of our superstars have had over the last 5 years. He needs to be with the saders simply so his head doesn't get too big. In hindsight, our back line issues of last year might have been because rabbit demanded the ball 75% of the time and didn't use his teammates to do anything with it.

Force will never sign SBW - he is a talent and will be a crowd pleaser but his entourage would destroy the team.. can u imagine Mundine demanding a mid season break to work on his boxing. We need a dedicated talent not another JOC with a "Brand" to worry about.

Tricks are easy. You see them in colts all the time. Being able to do it against first class opposition is another story and that's what he can do consistently. One injury in the AB three quarters and he'll be in like Flynn.

But even if we had a spot still open he would not be the man to fill it, despite his class. We'd have been better served with a seasoned RU pro in the midfield for the others to learn from. One like BOD.
