G'day all,
Just thought I'd share my efforts on the weekend where I scored a 12km try in the City to Surf... Only took me 86 minutes which probably speaks more of my alcohol intake during the leadup to the race than anything else!
I don't recommend anyone try run any long distance with a rugby ball in future as it throws out your rhythm and possibly pulls a muscle in your neck... At least train with it if you must carry it.
Also TRAIN if you intend to do the City to Surf. Looking back, I should have done some form of training.
At least I looked good, apart from the chicken legs:
On a side note, I bumped into Pieter Van Zyl from the Cheetahs who was also doing the run, by complete fluke when I offered to take a photo of he and his ladyfriend together as they were taking a photo of each other separately mid race... He commented on my attire and when I asked him who he supported (judging he may be a rugby fan by his thick South African accent) he replied that 'I play for the Cheetahs'. He seemed a nice bloke and even offered to take my photo midrace and send it to me.
Maybe we could get a TWF team together for 2012?
