NRL club bosses meet tomorrow in Sydney, unanimous they must be rewarded at the next broadcasting contract for the high ratings and subscriptions their games generate, even if it means abandoning Foxtel.

I hope they do call their bluff. The sleazbags at (the top of) News Corp put the game back a decade and at least two in WA. They have infiltrated Channel 10 and are currently stripping FTA sport from it's content in a bid to extort more subscriptions. There will be little hope that they will be a bidder.

They are now holding Rugby to ransom and restricting it's ability to grow into new areas. The League CEO's should have learned a lesson from what "The War" cost the game and will likely stay solid if News tries to go it's own way again.

Too bad Rugby isn't strong enough to do the same.
