He's only an assistant, history has proven this year that assistants have little or no impact on the game whatsoever.........even when they should!

Local lad made good. Our #1 ranked ref here in the west. He is fine.

Lees is also from very fine stock - his dad having been a ref and ref development dude at Rugby HQ in NSW. Can be seen regularly refereeing Shute Shield and was one of the refs at the Adelaide 7s a few weeks back.

Also, as mentioned several times in here before, I rate Lawrence very, very highly and he has only improved since I last commented. He is a cool dude.

What happened for us to get one of the better ref crews?

Judging by the fact that us and the Bulls are the only teams yet to get a try bonus point, I'm not expecting an exhibition of free-flowing rugby on Saturday.

(Of course, with my tipping history that'll probably mean the match will finish 50-49!)

We're playing the Bulls and there's a chance we might win it.......they know if we do, the ref will get shit because those Saffers don't believe in an incredibly out of character performance, so they've already chalked it up as a loss to us.

I agree too. Unfathomable that he missed a RWC gig, given that there are two from ZA and Kaplan is one of them. He's been pretty shite every time I've seen him in action for the past couple of seasons.
