    Force ‘A’ seek Rebel retribution

The Emirates Western Force ‘A’ team and Rebel Rising will clash again this weekend following an opening encounter at AAMI Park in which the Victorians earned opening honours.

A slow start by the West Aussies saw them down 10-0 after just five minutes but they were able to work their way back into the game to even the scores by half time.

The two sides continued to trade blows on the scoreboard however the Rebel Rising were able to maintain a six point advantage to run out 30-24 victors.

Coach Andrew Scotney was pleased with the team’s efforts, in particular the performances of Nedlands centre Juan Pretorius, prop Gary Neugebauer, Emirates Western Force academy player Cruze Ah-Nau and former Brumbies and Reds player Henari Veratau.

“The game was an excellent hit out for the side in terms of exposing all players to a high level of rugby,” said Scotney.

“The Melbourne side contained at least 12 players with either Test, Super Rugby or Sydney first grade experience.

“This gives the team a real platform to build on given that we’ve got a home game against the same opposition this weekend.”

The Emirates Western Force ‘A’ side will look to improve when the two teams go head to head again this weekend. The West Aussies are set to be boosted by a number of Emirates Western Force players that have returned from South Africa as well as a number of players coming back from injury.

I turned up at 4:15 for the last Force A game & got told to go away. It was a closed match.

I'm sure the players would have loved some supporters there, it seems a bit crazy to turn people away!

I have access. I'll try and post something when the games finishes. Let me know if there is anything or anyone in particular you want me to look out for.

It will costs the Force an extra $20000 to open an hour earlier. The Force does not have that kind of money to just flog out for maybe 100 spectators.
So maybe we just need a decent sponsor for the A side that will pay the money to get the gates open

I'd pay $20 on my membership for access, it's only once or twice a season, I'm sure most members wouldn't notice it whether they'd go or not.

Force need to put money into these games otherwise they spend the rest of their time relying on eastern state imports lets get players from WA that want to stay and devlop themselves here.....I would pay an extra charge to go through the gate early....prob would of spent that at the bar beforehand anyway

Mate you go and do their books and tell them where to make the cuts to go and spend $20000 on something that will interest maybe a 100 or maybe a 1000 people

Fill the stadium first for Force games and then maybe they will have a look at opening the doors for $20000/hour earlier

Hell yeah, as part of the overall Force experience. Sadly the overheads rule it out.
Does EWF get a cut of the food and beverage revenue?

Couldn't the Force A games be played at a club instead, with a bye for club rugby(or start the season 1 week earlier or later). You would get quite a crowd if it was advertised & managed correctly, due to the large number of local club players on show having their shot at elite rugby. This Sat Cott play Neddies in round 1 of the club comp & both sides will be missing the majority of their big guns. Just seems a little unfortunate for club rugby. WITHOUT undermining the importance & viability of the Force A.
