    Refs Week 4

The match officials for Week 4 of the 2011 SANZAR Super Rugby tournament have been confirmed by SANZAR.
There are two changes to the schedule announced earlier. Chris Pollock will take charge of the match between the Rebels and the Sharks in Melbourne whilst Steve Walsh will referee the match between the Stormers and the Highlanders in Cape Town. Both fixtures will be played on Friday 11 March 2011.
SANZAR Game Manager, Lyndon Bray said the appointment was changed as Walsh, who is returning from injury, is on his way to Europe to referee a Six Nations Test the following week. He replaces Mark Lawrence.
Bray added that Pollock had been selected to replace Walsh on the Melbourne game as he was amongst the competition's early "in form" referees.

I wonder how many times Pearce will be 'overruled' by Stu - as he is the more experienced ref.

I don't like Nathan Pearce. He has reffed us once or twice before against the Brumbies.

Hmm thinking this could be another novelty book - the Ref with the most contraversal decision of the year - we sure get some doozy's - you'd think their knowledge of the "gate" would be a prerequisite especially in a RWC year humble apologises Ecky had the pleasure of watching a local comp dvd this weekend and honestly some of our local refs are fairer

Think back to the last WRC year and how the refs were under scrutiny to get a gig and the benchmarks were...

Award a penalty against a #9 for putting into second row ... check

Award a penalty so technically obscure even the match reviewer has to look it up (#9 being 5 m away from scrum cannot return) ... check.

Award lots of red and yellow cards.....check.

Ignore advise from assistants to show them you are smarter...check.

Congratulations Keith Brown - you're off to New Zealand!!!

mark Lawrence wins that one this week penalizing the Brumbies on their own scrum feed before he called pause!

Nobody had moved, the only thing I could see was ma'afu overbalanced and put his hand on the ground to steady himself. He got his balance back, raised the hand, the whistle blew!

What was that one for Gerry?

Is it actually a Law that you have to use two hands to feed the Scrum?
