I'm not saying don't forgive him and he will cop it on the chin but getting caught once is a case mistaken judgement. Getting caught a second time is just plain dumb

not trying to perpetuate a circular argument, but we've all done dumb things in our time, we've all done dangerously dumb things in our time, if he's not learned his lesson, then he needs to be beaten up, but if he's trying to make a go of it, give him a chance to do the right thing.

His own words allude to other issues bubbling away below the surface - not that these are to be used as excuses - let's hope he deals with those as well.

I for one am glad he has come out and said what he did - what alternative does he have? At least it displays a sense of conviction, and his mindset at this time.

Abstinence is far more difficult (and displays far more commitment) than controlled drinking. I only hope he came to the decision himself rather than it having been imposed on him.
