The sinking of the rail line and purchase of housing was always in the $1.2 Billion price tag

Of course the City of Subiaco is concerned about the loss of revenue, any city council would be and that would have been one of the reasons Nick whatshisname in the Town of Vincent wouldnt give in the NiB stadium discussions last year

Great Eastern Hwy has been approved for a 3 lane upgrade from the Causeway to Tonkin Hwy as apart of the Ariport master plan - not sure when work is supposed to start.

The tunnel is always bottlenecked because of the entry lane right on the tunnel entrance

edit: There was something today in news sites (lower case n, note) about a light rail setup for Perth. I remember about the "Knowledge Arc" (ie UWA to Curtin Uni) being a suggested route. Another transport method to Burswood.

If it is going to be out there they should arsehole Belmont Park and build both stadiums there with a dedicated entertainment strip, including franchise owned Members Bars/Clubs that can stay open to midnight.
Make it a destination for the whole night, not just a part of the evening.
It would be great to be able to turn up two or three hours before kickoff and hang out in a reasonable beer garden with mates and meeting fellow Rugby followers, have a meal if that's your thing at a steakhouse or cafe or the like, then post match you don't have to up stumps again, just go to a choice (of atmosphere) of three or four places full of punters from your sport.
The likes of the Bowlo would probably continue but for the general punter the ability to spend the evening in one place would be pretty compelling.

Hmm. Interesting idea. move Belmont Park to Spewbiaco which then frees up that whole area. good thinking, Burgs!

Or just Move BP to Ascot and get it over and done with! City of Subiaco would make more money out of a residential/retail/entertainment development long term than weekly sporting injections.

There was a plan about a few years back to develop BP as an entertainment/residential area with the profits used to upgrade Lark Hill training complex into a top class all weather racetrack . This would be the commonsense thing to do as Belmont Park currently looks like something from Stalinist Russia. Guess they decided to Wait A While.

Has their been any money put forward for this new stadium?

The money allocated to upgrade nib stadium ($83 million) is close enough to the price to build a new stadium. If they just throw another 20-30 million on top of that and don't upgrade nib stadium, they could have a new good rectangular stadium.

I don't think so... they use the park land on the river foreshore and Belmont. There isn't a huge amount of parking (there's NO parking in Subiaco, however).
