Careful Action, don't make me angry!

You won't like me when I'm angry about not having a decent stadium!

I hate to believe it but it does look as though we are building the most expensive tennis court in the world!

If I understood correctly, the tournament will be in summer and require AC stadia. Apparently the temperatures can hit 50 Celcius, so getting to and from will probably be a pain in the arse. They must be hoping to fill the seats with Midlle East residents because I just don't see how many other people will want to go. Crazy decision.

What I think I heard on TV was this....Qatar are going to build 22 new stadiums and after the WC they are going to dismantle them and reassemble them in third world countries. If this is true how could you compete with an offer like that? The huge cost involved in doing something like that would make hosting the cup a financial liability for Qatar but obviously they think the prestige would be worth it, and it would seem money is not an issue for an oil-rich arab country.
I don't think Australia should whinge too much about it, I think we have the opportunity to prove we can be gracious losers.

Probably a good thing from a rugby perspective. Can't help but think that A/C stadiums is a monumental waste of energy. You don't even want to think about the amount of oil that will be burnt to keep 80,000 people in an enclosed stadium cool for around 3 hours. Madness.

Given that the next possible World Cup Australia could realisticly bid for won't be until 2038-2040 watch Colin Barnett turn around and say his upgrade of Subi Oval.

The decision by FIFA is astounding given that they clearly went back on some of their basic requirements for a host nation.

Money in brown paper bags left outside hotel rooms would be involved

Does Western Australia qualify as a third world country?

    Why 38-40?

Not able to apply for 26, 30, 34?

I thought the only real rotation was every second one to Europe?

That doesn't entirely make sense. Because South Africa is going to be followed by Brazil in 2014. Qatar may as well be Europe- its only about 2 timezones off most of Europe.
