I love this belief that a) if he wasn't in the Republic then he would be working on the Force during his annual leave and b) that he doesn't have the capacity to give thought to two squads at once.
By the way, we probably should sack Graham too as he is solely focusing on the Wallabies instead of the Force!

JM might be a good coach burgs, but there is no way he is coaching the Lions, formulating a plan for the Force season in 2011and ensuring the best players are recruited, all to the best of his ability. I think it's cute that because he is on annual leave that he should drop everything related to the Force, when you are placed in a position of importance within a company you will realize Burgs that your higher pay is infact a byproduct of your necessity to work even in your holidays at times..

He might be on holidays, but that's not to say he couldn't go to lunch with a player and discuss why he should sign with the force, or go down to the footy field and watch a game of rugby to gauge a players true potential.. Not exactly arduous work

Graham is still involved with the coaching and development if Force players during his time at the Wallabies.... Apples and oranges

Mitchell is unwanted in NZ and so it seems is unwanted at the Force. He is putting out feelers in a country that plays hard rugby and isn't frightened by a coach that demands results and pushes his chargers hard.

If he happens to coach the Force in 2011, his little stint in RSA can only be good for him as a coach. It helps keep him fresh, opens his eyes to some different ideas, he gets a first hand look at next years oponents and he doesn't have to watch Z grade in Perth whilst trying to come up with a strategy of turning kids and has beens into a super 15 title contender.

Coaches need training and mental freshness as well.

Oh yeah, you got me on the ropes for sure.

I am quietly confident about my first hand knowledge of what expectations are upon those in "positions of importance".

burgs, i was just having a joke, im sure you are a very important person.

However the relevance of my initial comment still rings true, coaches dont work 8-5, 5 days a week. Flexible working hours are there forte, they are just as much a mentor as they are a coach, and sometimes(even on there holidays) there job might require them to do something like have lunch with a potential recruit to get there signature on the dotted line or talk up the prospects of the club.

Lions are an attacking team with no defence - the force are a defensive team with an impotent attack - might work both ways

It's scary to think what the Lions could become with a solid coaching outfit....

Attacking flair is something which can't really be taught, but defensive patterns and and tackling can always be improved

The African teams have talent pools we can only dream about. It's disturbing that the Lions can be so bad. A decent management and coach could turn them into world beaters. the Bulls did it. It was only a few seasons (6-7) ago a road trip to Pretoria was 5 points in the bag
