In the media at the moment you have the ARU saying they will not extend the deadline, unless there are any "new circumstances", and Gasniers' camp saying he has rejected the deadline and won't "be able" to make his decision for at least a week.
I would suggest that the ARU must be pro-active here and hold him to the deadline or let the proposal lapse.
If they fold here then they will be seen as a soft touch any future negotiations with potential converts.
You don't make a deadline if you aren't prepared to stick to it. That's business.
Gasnier has had since he first met with the ARU to decide if he wants to change or not and since the offer was made plus another extension and top up to decide if it is enough to justify the move.
Stick to the deadline ARU and let the chips fall where they may.
By action or inaction Gasnier should be forced to make a decision today or offer the "new circumstances".
The integrity of the ARU is at stake, not a players future.

Agreed Burgs, what's the point of even having deadlines if they just get extended and no one sticks to them. Mind you the leaguies can be a bit slow sometimes so maybe that's what's going on.

It's a shame because just like Joey and Braith, it would have been interesting to see how they went on the rugby field.

Good on the ARU, any person who starts to think they are bigger than the game should be shot down. We would be in danger of becoming like soccer if started pandering to players BS.

I agree with both TIF and TEF, it is definately a shame as I reckon he would have been a great gain for Union on the field however, as with TEF, I can't agree with any player being allowed to play the ARU and I am pleasantly suprised that they held their ground.
Willie Tonga and Ryan Cross must be pleased to know that the purse strings will be able to be loosened a little now!

I feel a little the same. On a personal level I would have really liked to see how Gaz went. Ditto Joey and Anasta. But that's just it - it would be interesting, not a necessity. The ARU have done the righty. I'm not convinced Anasta or Joey were playing one off against the other, particularly Joey. But why let anyone have the option? The fourth S14 franchise is already uncovering players who would have stayed under the radar and giving others a second chance to prove that they maybe should never have dropped off the radar.

Flower's was on the news this morning and he made a statement saying that the deal is closed in the meantime and also said he hoped that Gasnier would still make the move.

Basically the deal has been withdrawn to save face but they will still make the offer when he decides he's ready. Weak as piss.

Hey Sage, was there ever any comment from Gasniers camp after the offer was withdrawn?
All went quiet over here as soon as the ARU pulled it.
