Here's a crazy thought.....how about getting rid of the bye rounds and play every other team at least once. Then you get a fair reflection of who's the best team.

um... there are 15 teams in the competition, meaning each weekend there will be a bye

Coach, do you happen to have the Reds draw from your unnamed source as well?

That was the plan but then the negotiations started...
    1. Australia and NZ didn't want the season starting in mid-Feb like it does now (it will next year but only because of the World Cup).
    2. South Africa didn't want the season finishing any later than early August (as it will in 2012) because of the Currie Cup.
    3. The other option was to continue the series through the June tests but South Africa wasn't keen on that either.

So that's what we're left with. Unfortunately it's inevitable if the series expands any further - if the Southern Kings make it a Super 16 in 2013 we'll miss playing 2 South African teams.

Nice work Coach. Any word on when the fixtures are likely to be confirmed ? Any info on the other Aussie team fixtures ? Plotting another 3 city tour for next season (or might it be a 4 city tour ?).

regardless of playing each team once or twice, there will always be a team having a bye due to the odd number of teams in the comp..

That would only explain one Bye, not two though surely?

No because you essentially have two "domestic" rounds with a bye required for each.

precisely, its also the reason that both the AFL and NRL have 16 teams, the AFL is adding a new team, but it is doing so in quick sucession(Gold Coast 2011, Sydney 2012).

Reason is, that adding one extra team to the competition doesnt improve the value of the competition to the broadcasters because its still the same number of games each week, you really need to add 2 teams to get that extra game each week.

Its also the reason that i expect the Super15 to quickly become the Super16.

I'll be away april/may but will still get a membership I think i'll miss two or three home games, but I'll donate my seat to a worthy Force supporter who tells me in 25 words or less why they deserve it ... :p

I will be so sad watching the games in vegas ... (i'm sure I'll be able to find some games! I found AFL in LA ...) ... but finding a place to watch a game in monte carlo may be a bit difficult ... unless i win big and they want there money back!
