Cooper in clear on burglary charge

A Gold Coast magistrate has struck out a burglary charge laid against Wallabies fly half Quade Cooper.

The 22-year-old was charged over a break-in at a Surfers Paradise home last December.

Cooper's lawyer Dan McManus says police offered no evidence against his client and the matter was finalised in the Southport Magistrates Court this morning.

"We've advised the Australian Rugby Union, who will be letting Mr Cooper know," he said.

"I understand that he has got a training session this afternoon or this morning in Sydney."

I wonder why the police offered no evidence?

Hi Guys, I heard here in Sydney that Cooper went home with a girl after the party who lived at that apartment/s? Its alleged that the 2 students guys who lived in the apartment set him up and took some photos to bribe him. The police were called and it all got out of hand... so the story goes…

    All sounds a bit strange?
I think if it was me, regardless of if it was known to be just a formality, I would a) be in court to defend myself and b) not want my employer to be involved in an unassociated matter anyway.
Maybe it was to eliminate photo ops for the gutter dwellers.

Cooper didnt need to attend the court because the deal had been done, something was up when both the prosecution & the defence pressed for a posponement of the hearing during Cooper's last appearance

I appreciate he didn't need to, otherwise he would have been there however, for the reasons I gave I believe if it was me I would have been regardless.

I love the guy as a footy player but two things spring to mind, smoke and fire.

Like Robin Brooke with his one-off Island run in. Seems it was one of any number of occassions where he tried to use his celeb status to meet his 'needs'.

Silly me, all that talk of lawyers, police and a magistrate in a magistrate's court had me assuming it involved the accused until the police officially offered no evidence.

If i lie and tell you there was a hearing today would that make you feel better?

It was mediation, most likely been going in for months and a agreement was only reached today.
