    Aus/Eng 2nd Test: Rupert's ratings

    Player ratings
    RUPERT GUINNESS
    June 20, 2010

    15. James O'Connor
Nervous start. Also missed a tackle on Chris Ashton, who scored. 4/10

    14. Digby Ioane
Ran a great line off a Quade Cooper pass that led to Matt Giteau's try. 6/10

    13. Rob Horne
Needed to be used more to vary attack. 5/10

    12. Matt Giteau
Missed a sitter but scored all the Wallabies' points. 7/10

    11. Drew Mitchell
Lacked the spark that has been a trademark of his season. 4/10

    10. Quade Cooper
Clearly targeted by England, but found some of his mojo. 7/10

    9. Will Genia
Provided quick, efficient delivery to Cooper. 7/10

    8. Richard Brown
Did not have the impact that a barnstorming No.8 should. 5/10

    7. David Pocock
Can't win the breakdown on his own. 6/10

    6. Rocky Elsom
Should have inspired the Wallabies to a win. 5/10

    5. Nathan Sharpe
Credit him for his role in improved scrum in first half. Good defence. 6/10

    4. Dean Mumm
Disappointing to see him leave a gap at the back of lineout that led to England's first try. 4/10

    3. Salesi Ma'afu
Hooked in 50th minute after referee warned he was becoming sloppy in the scrum. 5/10

    2. Saia Faingaa
More authoritative at scrum. Lineout throws consistently straight. 6/10

    1. Ben Daley
Improved from last week. Effective in loose and in defence. 6/10

    Reserves:
    16. Huia Edmonds
    Nine minutes. Solid effort. 5/10

    17. James Slipper
Proved he is a prop to watch after replacing Ma'afu. 6/10

    18. Mark Chisholm
Came on in the second half but was unable to change balance of power up front. 5/10

    22. Adam Ashley-Cooper
Replaced injured Ioane in 63rd minute. Fared well. 6/10

Matt Hodgson, Luke Burgess and Berrick Barnes did not play

    *************************************************
Proving once again that Rupert has a lot of trouble distinguishing between chewed dates and excrement.

Do these journos get paid for knowledgeable comment or simply creating controversy??

Makes it look like Giteau's points were all individual effort
    4/10 for O'Connor?

Genia looked to have played injured ,if so a very selfish attitude .Why Burgess didn't get on at half time astounds me. We struggled at set piece, didn't respect possession , missed too many tackles and showed little respect for good opposition by trying to win it as individuals until it was too late.Where did the passion go? Robbie can shoulder some of the blame for this one.

Agreed, Genia looked like he was limping a bit towards the end. Dan Crowley (I think) said he was stepping before he made every pass - maybe to get the pressure off the right knee?

Agree about Robbie too, you could see Gits was missing the penalties/conversion, even the one right in front! Why not get Quade or JO'C to have taken over with the kicking - JO'C proved he was quite capable of kicking last week. Also re: Genia, I'm not a huge fan of Burgess but he should have been brought on to replace Genia at some stage.

Felt like Ben Daley was getting a bit of a raw deal, England 3's binding was a bit crap, to say the least, and Daley was getting pinged for it. Wasn't overly impressed with England's hooker either. Yes our front row are not our best but IMHO playing against a front row like theirs was making ours look worse than they actually were in some respects. Guess its games like that which will help them to get better though.

JOC did have a shocking start but started really having an impact out wide as the game grew on.. was certainly not the worst in the Team.. Mumm took that easily with Genia not far behind..

Brownie took a fabulous high ball contrary to his shockers last year and he put in a huge ammount of effort in the loose stuff as did Sharpie and Pocock, Daley had a good game i thought as did Iaone, Cooper and AAC.. Mitchell went missing comparitively.

To be fair England won that on the back of Giteau's boot and not much else.. 4 misses is a killer at this level. So even though he did score all the points The Second try was a gift and he certainly was a villain with so many missed penalties.

    and 7/10 for Gits!

Did gits lose 1 point for every kick he missed......actually no, that wouldn't add up would it!

I thought Rupert also gave our backrow a raw deal, and the front row should have all got 8s after last week.

There's no way in hell Giteau and Cooper were our best on the park. Gits was close to our worst!

Genia was not a 7, but no way was he as bad as some of you are saying. This is his first run in 5 or 6 weeks - give the guy a break.

No doubt that England deserved the win - they were far more willing at the breakdown than our back 5.

The front row was far from an 8 in my book Gigs. They can't be commended on a fairly average performance just because the week before they were annihilated. Horne was DEFINITELY not better than James - I barely noticed him on the park!

    Mumm should be removed. Soon.

A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

Have to give a poor score - a 4 - for Genia as well. Sorry Tic, doesn't matter whether he's come off an injury..his game simply wasn't sound on the day, more so when compared to Lukey's (someone I've attacked consistently) performance the previous week.

Better show from the Front Row, in part as a result of the ref who wasn't buying into the argument that all collapses were as a result of the weak Wallaby front row.

Loose forwards were a little flat..a more aggresive English performance on the ground balls perhaps?

    Backline..meh..nothing inspirational.

Looks like Genia was playing with a broken thumb - probably explains his loss of form.

yeah he just didnt have that X-Factor he usually has, delivery slow and predictable.. Was not surprised at all to hear he was injured! If Luke plays like he did last week he will have my vote.
