He was going to play for the Queensland Reds under the developmental player thingy but he wanted to play in the ANZC which isn't allowed (thus James Parsons didn't come to the Force). Therefore he might be keen to play as our marquee which would mean he could go back for the ANZC or maybe his priorities will have changed since then.

GIGS, Hunt is only 20 next year whereas Hobbs, for example, is 24. The message that would send him is: We aren't rushing you. Here is a guy a bit more senior and he will take on most of the pressure and allow you time to develop. You'll be playing off the bench mostly this year with the view to being a starter in 2012. If Hunt was even close to being ready he'd be getting game time off the bench now.

I deliberately left out guys like nick evans, james hook, toby flood etc etc because realistically they wouldnt give up the $$$$ or a spot on their rwc squad to play in perth, and a guy like evans would go back home as he would be a walk in selection for the allblacks.

Another interesting option for the solid senior player stakes (though have never seen him play) is Paul Warwick.

    According to Wiki:

    Paul Warwick
    January 8, 1981
    Place of birth Australia
    Height 1.80 m (5ft 11in)
    Weight 87 kg (13st 9lbs)

    Rugby union career

    Position Full Back, Fly Half
Provincial/State sides Years Club / team Caps (points)
    199?-2004 Manly RUFC
    2004-2006 Connacht Rugby 72 (452)
    2007-2010 Munster Rugby 57 (310)

    Australian Sevens

Paul Warwick born 1 August 1981 in Australia is a rugby union player for Munster who play their rugby in the Magners League and Heineken Cup. He plays as a fly-half or Full-back. As of 13 April 2009, Warwick had played 36 times competitively for Munster, scoring 232 pts, including 8 tries & 3 dropped goals. He has previously played for Australian side Manly and switched to Connacht in 2004. Since his arrival at Munster he has become a mainstay in the squad.

    "Irish Switch" controversy
On 27 January 2009, he reportedly signed a three year deal with Guinness Premiership club London Irish, starting at the start of the 2009/10 season. However there was speculation as to whether he will be joining the Irish Exiles or remaining with Munster for the start of next season, as an apparent Tug-of-War has begun between the two sides looking to secure his services.

On 9 April 2009 Munster and London Irish announced that the issue over Paul Warwick has been resolved to the satisfaction of all parties and that Warwick would be remaining next season at Munster.

I just watched Sharpies post match interview again.

He said they did it for themselves and the crowd.

Nothing about doing it for other teams.
