    O'Young to hang up boots

    O’YOUNG TO HANG UP BOOTS

Inaugural Emirates Western Force halfback Chris O'Young will call an end to his Super Rugby career following the 2010 season after more than 50 matches at the top level.

O’Young joined the Force after starting his career with the Waratahs and quickly established himself as one of the clubs most consistent performers. A quiet achiever, he went about his job without fuss to become the fourth most capped player in franchise history.

While I've never been his #1 fan, I do respect what he has done for the Force during some pretty trying episodes of our short history and it is a little sad that it would appear he will finish on 49 Force Caps after such loyal service.

    Go well Chrisso

Can only surmise he's going to concentrate on a career outside Rugby. He's never had enough game time to get knocked about and he'd be able to play more Rugby in Japan if he needed some super. Good luck, Chrisso.

Whilst I have beena bit of a knocker of the quality of his play, there's no doubting the quality of the man.....He came back when the Force were stuck for a Halfback and contributed with everything he had.

It was great to see him finally showing some success in the Ocean Blue against the Stormers and Highlanders, but the life of a fringe S14 player isn't an easy one.

Good work Chrisso, here's hoping you get a run on Friday so we can give you the send off you deserve!

I'm surprised that he didn't consider Melbourne as an option. I'm pretty sure they'd be happy to have him.

I liked O'Young but while he stays he keeps Turner and Swanepoel out. Still got three halfbacks in the squad.

Personally I don't have any time for him as a person.

He was one of the players that was allocated to a Perth club and jumped ship at the first opportunity and against the advice of Rugby WA.

Clearly he is a classic half back; small, nippy and a great pass and still has a few seasons in him somewhere.

As an individual he lacks moral fibre and never had any commitment to WA. Won't be sorry to see the back end of him.

Be interesting to see if he gets anymore game time now? Surely rebels would look at him... go to Japan mate.... more than likely a s14 club will be looking for a number 9 after a couple of games in 2011. A great pass.

Even though I would like to see some commitment to local Rugby from Force players, I don't see that the lack of it, or not taking advice from RugbyWA has anything to with a professional player's "moral fibre". Your post is out of order.

Oracle - maybe you should adopt some other nick ......... I second Shasta's judgement - your post is out of order.

Chris was not that different to many other players allocated to local clubs. His decison to not play for Wanneroo when it was determined that the requirement to turn out for the clubs was removed is not a reason to question his 'moral fibre'. As for the suggestion that he had no commitment to WA, how many others would you apply that judgement upon given the number of Force players that were playing in the Sydney Comp last season ?

Sorry to see him go. Never quite Wallaby standard, but an excellent Super 14 reserve.

I'm surprised he hasn't gone to Melbourne, but having been with one start-up team, maybe he doesn't want to go through the growing pains of a second.

Also got Cordingley and Kingi already signed at Melbourne Sheikh so they have an old head and a young gun.
