I think after last nights appalling effort clearly someone has to perform an intervention. You may remember Pieter Van Zyl tackling referee Dave McHugh after the famous drubbing dealt out by the AB's to the Bokke at home.
He is quoted as saying afterwards from the paddy wagon, "The whole of the stadium was mal (angry) with him (the referee). It's just that I decided to do something about it," and "Referees around the world think they are bigger than the game and they're not. Fans like me is what rugby is about."
And he is so right!
If Piet would be kind enough to be our mascot rather than that lame black swan we already have, at least we would have some fire power (forgive the pun) close to the action in case another Black Saturday refereeing situation reared its ugly head.
I am not advocating actually smashing the ref, don't get me wrong, but sure as eggs if the refs knew Van Zyl was only meters away, the implied threat may just snap them out of their stupidity. The Force's cold war nuclear deterant if you will.
