That's the next option....it would appear that wasn't the way Spanner wanted to play it though. I guess he wants to be sure of his retirement fund for next season....can't blame him for that.

Whether Spanner asks for a release will be an indication of the level of commitment by both sides........Spanner also takes the risk of not getting an ARU top up.

Sounds like he still has to play out his contract at Wasps which has a few rounds left to go yet I believe?
By the time he is available it will be really about 2011.
If he is looking to play immediately then we have an advantage, if he is wanting a post season break then we don't.
