Dunning looking to Force his way back

Western Force recruit Matt Dunning says he will use his move from the New South Wales Waratahs to try and revitalise his international career.

Dunning missed all of last year's Super 14 season through injury and is now looking forward to building a partnership with the likes of Nathan Sharpe in the Force forward pack.

After missing so much rugby, Dunning is just looking forward to getting back on the field but still has dreams of wearing the green and gold.

"That's why you play football, to enjoy the game and play as high as you can and play for the Wallabies," he said.

"I needed the change, I'd been in New South Wales for 10-11 years.

"There was a big opportunity moving here."

The front rower says his preseason training has been going well.

"I'm really excited about the forwards. I played with Nathan Sharpe since we were kids, he was a big factor in getting me over here, we get on really well," he said.

"The back row is second to none in the Super 14."

"My first day of team training I really enjoyed. New and refreshing, a good bunch of guys."

Force coach John Mitchell says a mix of experience and youth in his side might lead to some inconsistent results.

"It's a matter of us helping them grow and gaining confidence," he said.

"With youthfulness there comes enthusiasm but we might have to ride a little bit of inconsistency through that development.

"But it's important we help them to progress."

Great to hear that Sharpey is able to intice players this side, he would not be able to do it if he did not beleive strongly enough in the FORCE.

Bodes well to him staying after his playing days to continue adding value.

Simon Cron: “People talk about winning and losing all the time and they are critical, but there’s a process to get into and it’s the ability to stay present, do your job and execute skills under pressure.”
