CASH prizes will be issued straight after the Digicel Suva Rugby Festival in Lautoka, says Suva Rugby Union chairman Vilikesa Rauca.

Rauca said they had learned from their previous mistakes issuing cheques to winning teams which later caused minor problems to the organisation.

"Definitely there will be cash prizes now. We do not want a repeat of what happened after the tournament in Suva. We'll give cash prizes straight after the tournament," he said.

Top sevens clubs like Suva, Ratu Filise, Nabua, Army, Police, Wardens, Navy, Vio, Western Marine and Sandhills confirmed their registrations by yesterday afternoon.
Rauca said other teams have requested the SRU to extend the closing date.

"Some teams that will be playing in local sevens tournaments this weekend have requested to extend the closing date to next week because they want to be part of the tournament.

Suva I and Ratu Filise have confirmed their places for the January International 7s tournament.
Another two teams from Lautoka will join top guns like Fiji, Papua New Guinea, USA, Samoa, Tonga, Hong Kong, Manawatu and Western Force before the final leg in Labasa next month.

"I believe the competition will be very exciting with the inclusion of western teams."
He said a 64 teams will be accomdated in Lautoka.

Meanwhile, six teams have registered in the U19 grade while two in the Oldies category.

Rauca urged teams in the west to field oldies teams before the registration closes next week.

The Lautoka leg is on December 11-12.
