Starts with a "fan" bagging the Force. Good comeback from Canno.

    Some interesting stuff.
Have posted below mine and his response as he has some insight into the Force, Tahs and Reds respective cultures.
Shame he didn't get to the Force Hooker situation or Australian depth but I made the old mistake of having too many questions, Front Rowers can't cope with too many concepts at once...
Someone else may want to ask about those issues?

    G’day BC,
Great getting a bit of insight from a past player, thanks mate.
It must be great for you to see a dominant Wallaby front row in action, but perhaps a little “sad” too not being able to get amongst the action yourself? I imagine you still get the urge to strap on a boot?

Has been mentioned earlier, but huge praise for the rise and rise of Bam Bam, an outstanding way to finish a great year. For mine, Bam, Genia and the two Bens are where the future is at for the Wallabies.

Was wondering, what would you consider the best aspect of each of your former Super Rugby teams if you could take one thing from each to build a new team on?

What are your thoughts on Australia’s depth in fielding a fifth franchise and also competing with the NH clubs for talent?

A concern amongst some of the Force faithful is depth at Hooker, any thoughts on that and the attempted conversion of Pek? Some mention trying the same for Dunny? Personally I have a lot of hope for Ben Whittaker (who knows, maybe a “3 Bens” Wallaby front row in the future!) but I wouldn’t have thought he would be an 80min x 13-15 match player as yet? With the uncapped Ryan Tyrrell as the existing back up it could be a long year...or the making of two “unknown’s”.

Anyway BC, thanks for being prepared to lead the way to the West and for many great memories at all levels of the code.

    Cheers,
    Burgs

    Burgs,
Thanks for your Blog and questions raised.
Agree on your nomination of players for the Tour, they all played well.

    In response to your State Union Question;
Reds ; A proud Union who have not really embraced professionalism. Need to really address own back yard issues rather than blame everyone else as to why they have struggled. Previous Administrations have left them in this current hole. Take to the new Team : Red Pride

Waratah’s : A underperforming team for many years, have been the most talented squad most times but have not embraced its true ability. Attacking Football is what they could be really good at but play too conservatively. Take to the New team : Great Culture

Force : West vs East challenge and also establishing a group of values unique for them and not replicated from another place. Great camaraderie and enjoyed Mitchell Rugby Philosophy but at times he was indifferent to player group. At the start probably struggled with professionalism as an organisation and sadly have missed capitalising on the superb momentum gained from the beginning. Have lost a little bit of traction in that regard. Members Equity will be a great venue, a real Fortress for visiting teams. Take to new team : Firmness on Values and no greyness with discipline issue.

Thanks for your kind words, Love my time in the West it was a superb experience and they have some of the best supporters in the Super 14.

    BC

He also had very kind words for BamBam - reckons he is a future Wallabies captain.

He comes from a good place to be able to see that.

oddly enough I agree with his comments on the different franchises.

Good call from Canno: "Personally, I’m not convinced the Kangaroos centre has shown enough brilliance to suggest he could dominate against the All Blacks or the Springboks at next year’s World Cup.

Defensively, he has a tendency to get lost at times with Stade Francais and he certainly hasn’t dominated the way one would have expected, like he did with St George Illawarra in rugby league."

Australian rugby doesn't need to spend big on ex-NRL players who find Top 14 a bit difficult - spend that money on player development, Aus A, ARC, better coaching at clubs, etc where it'll do more long-term good.
