HOMEGROWN WA PRODUCT NAMED IN AUSTRALIAN SEVENS SQUAD

RugbyWA Academy member Zack Holmes has been selected in the Australian Sevens squad for the upcoming tournament on the Gold Coast.

Holmes, an outside back from the Associates club, has been named in an ‘Aussie Spirit’ side for the tournament, which will act as a selection trial for the 2009-10 IRB Sevens World Series circuit.

The 19-year-old Aquinas College product said he was delighted to be named.

“It has been a long selection process – we have had three camps before the squad was named – so I’m happy the hard work has paid off,” Holmes said.

“I am really looking forward to the travel in the World Series circuit if selected. I haven’t been to either South Africa or Dubai before, so that’s very exciting.

“The guys at the RugbyWA Academy, Geoff Townsend and Warren Andrews in particular, have been a great help in my development and I appreciate their work.”

The Gold Coast Sevens will be held on the weekend of 7-8 November

I've just been told by one of his club mates that he is only about 5'8" but is super super fast and also has a great boot.
