Dragons will monitor the calf injury of their captain Tom Willis ahead of the Magners League visit to Edinburgh.

The hooker lasted just 20 minutes of his comeback game at the Scarlets before feeling the injury again.

Summer signing Matthew Watkins could be in line for a full debut after coming off the bench in the Scarlets defeat.

Wayne Evans' neck problem will be assessed this week, while Dan Lydiate and Luke Charteris have been named in the Wales autumn Test squad.

Both could be available at the discretion of Wales coach Warren Gatland, Lydiate the more likely of the two as Charteris will have more expectation of facing New Zealand on 7 November.

Props Phil Price, Ben Castle, Ali McKenzie and Nigel Hall are all on the injury list at Rodney Parade.

Edinburgh prop Kyle Traynor believes his side will need to work hard against Dragons if they're to climb back up the Magners League.

Traynor contributed to Edinburgh's defeat of Munster on Friday to temporarily claim the top spot.

"We stopped Munster from playing," said Traynor.

"There was a period when they were on our line, but we really fronted up and stopped them.

"There was a real physical edge about our guys and that was pleasing to see.

"We realise just how tough the Dragons match is going to be.

"Newport have a good record against Edinburgh and we will be working harder than ever to make sure we finish on a high note before the Magners League break."
