Come on the only reason this was reported is because it involves the one the only Phil Waugh and the NSW media haven’t had any thing else to report on him lately. Especially since that nasty Pocock fella from the Western Force seems to have subverted him from the team.

To be honest, I get a little bemused about the obsession our media seems to have with biffo at training. However, I can't help wondering how long it will be before innuendo and rumours start about 'roid rage. That would be a good look and a nice little fire for the ARU to be hosing down heading into the business end of the season...

Why when players are interviewed about fights at training they always pull out the bullshit line of "We are just training how we play, it's a good thing, it shows our focus and intensity".

Why can't one of them come out and say "Yeah I don't like that prick so I gave him a cheap shot on the ground and he didn't like it". Or in Phil Waughs case something like "Yeah he's a cocky little smartarse so a farted in his face in a ruck and told him that's what real men smell like".

Deans in the Fox Sports article:
The poise and composure O'Connor showed at Newlands just three weeks after his nightmare against the All Blacks at Eden Park convinced Deans the 19-year-old is up to the pressures of starting a do-or-die Bledisloe Cup encounter.
"It was a remarkable response," Deans said.
"He's always had the talent but he's a young man so he's learning in the Test arena, which is very hard.
"Most young men get to learn the game at club level, where they can go back and seek the wise counsel of some elders, and the support and confidence.
"Whereas James is playing his learning experience in a Test match where he's got millions watching. The scrutiny is enormous, the consequence of error is often enormous, so it's tough.
"But he's shown the sort of courage he's got and the capability ... he wouldn't see it as intense pressure; he wants to be out there and he's shown on the weekend that he's more than ready."
Yup. Couldn't agree more. Not even vaguely related to the training kerfuffle, but wise words. We've had this discussion elsewhere on the site - what happened to guys doing at least a bit of time in club rugby before hitting S14 & international rugby?

Anyway, bit off-topic, so as you were.
Though on reflection being young and having to prove yourself at this level might actually have a bearing on the face-off, so I might be selling myself short...
