QRU chief executive Ken Freer reportedly sacked

    Barry Dick
    July 30, 2009 10:07am

QUEENSLAND Rugby union chief executive Ken Freer reportedly has been sacked with former top players Tim Horan and Jeff Miller in line to replace him.
Freer, a former top brewery executive, has been under pressure for months since the Reds' disastrous Super 14 season.
The defection of flyhalf Berrick Barnes to the NSW Waratahs is believed to have been the last straw for the QRU board, which met late yesterday.

Horan is highly regarded in rugby circles but has no administrative experience in the code.
Miller is a former QRU CEO and former Reds coach.

You'd be a better man to comment than I TOCC, but the article suggests Tim Horan is short on administrative experience. Is there any evidence to suggest the candidates would fare any better?

I don't remember but how did Jeff Miller go in his previous try?

a successful businessman. He was a founder of the Mettle Group (a Culture & Leadership consultancy), and his personal company the JohnEales5 (now part of International Quarterback, a sports marketing and events company). He is also a director of QM Technologies, a director of SAHOF and a Financial Review columnist. He has acted as a consultant for BT Financial Group and Qantas. - Wikipedia.

Pretty hard to go past our greatest ever captain(IMO). The only question would be is he interested. He sure doesn't need the job.
