    Bogans knock-on-a-thon

How bad was SOO 2 in Sydney?

The bogans pride themselves on their core skills. That'll dead set do me. QLD scored 4 tries from NSW dropped balls. QLD had nothing. NSW beat themselves with atrocious ball skills.

SOO has reached the who-cares level.

NSW can't buy a win. QLD is toilet and still win. The series is gone and SOO 3 has no reason at all

Minileague, a shame not a game

nah you play for the state you live in (just like Cricket)

Although in the amatuer days you probably didn't see many players changing states

Pity. It's (usually) always fun seeing interstate rivalries played out in sport.

    Spot on assessment.

Yes. It's going so badly that it's shown right around the country in prime time at 7:30pm and the NRL ratings are going thru the roof to the point where NRL is matching AFL.

What time is the Wallabies V France match on FTA again? Keep up, Rex.

I dunno, was pretty satisfying for anyone supporting the Maroons

With a fifth team I think a Union SOO would start to become a more viable option and may be a valuable one off betwean the S15 GF and Wallaby selection to give the leading contenders a shot. Would have to be based on Qld v NSW though, so not sure how that leaves things for those without a history there in the future though. Maybe a curtain raiser of Islanders v Others or something...I dunno.

exactly how does League get over the problem AFL has ... I mean that SOO is the best they can field, where in AFL any SOO teams fake injuries because the home and away is worth more? Would we have the same problem if halfway through our S14 we had a union SOO, would the teams hold back players so as not to risk them in a game which means bragging rights and not S14 points?

I think that's why the carrot of national selection would have to be there post season rather than mid season, AFL don't have that as their Rep team isn't selected for AFL, rather for International Rules.

The problem the AFL seems to have is that even though Demetriou & Co would give a left one to have somwething like SoO, the coaches and I suppose the club hierarchies are not on board with the concept.

In RL and Rugby the clubs and coaches see representative selection of their players as the ultimate honour for their club. Take a look at Ricky Stuatrt recently. Their club has had just about the greatest annus horribilus possible this season. But Ricky was out there in the press demanding that Trent Barrett be selected for the Blues.

A true "State of Origin" would never happen in Union as NSW has some Queenslanders on Contract and vice versa, not to mention players from both states being under contract by both the Force and the Brumbies.

I can't see any Super 14 franchise granting a release to players to go and play and risk injury
