    WA Club Tours

Was wondering if any of the WA Clubs conducted pre or post season tours to aid development?
Certainly all the rage over the years at the PSA Schools level, admittedly with a few less of the issues regarding time off work etc.
Was thinking even a three match week in Adelaide or Melbourne, if not Sydney or Brisbane would have to be a huge boost to a pre season.
Are there too many factors against going or is it being done?
Also, does WA get many/any touring teams wanting a hit out at Club level?
Perhaps opportunities for breaking other tours to SA and NH or vice versa?

One of my younger brother's is playing for the Under 15's Perth team and they have organised a trip to the Gold Coast two weeks after the season to play against two school teams. They have already worked out estimated costs and are underway with trying to raise money for the trip. Not only will it be a great team bonding trip but the experience they will gain together will be priceless and will be something they remember for a long time!

I am pretty sure at school level there is plenty of tours and also visiting touring teams... I remember when I was at Aranmore we would have at least two teams visit every year plus we would go to QLD and play in the confederations cup on a yearly basis

If anyone is interested in doing some development type stuff while on tour, may I suggest William Ryan - Secretary of the Indonesian Rugby Football Union - as someone to contact? I'm sure he would be chuffed to hear from interested teams and might even help source opposition while you're there.

For an idea of what they do, this is from an advertisement for a volunteer position he forwarded to me last year (that I had to turn down but is posted on TWF somewhere):
"Through player coach and referee development, encouragement of schools programs and creation of national teams, the IRFU has been instrumental in the promotion of rugby to the Indonesian public. Of particular interest has been the pesantren development programs, which involve rugby training to disadvantaged Indonesian students, whose previous exposure to sports would have been limited. Furthermore, the IRFU has trained coaches and referees from across Indonesia."

    His email is liamryan@bit.net.id
