    Who cares?
Go watch beach volleyball or gymnnastics if you like half naked people in Lycra.
We get accused of being fan girls and only interested in rugby for the players, having cheerleaders at the game is hardly to appreciate their gymnastic talent or sporting ability...

I don't want cheerleaders but if we get them atleast all the perving blokes will be distracted by that & those of us there to watch the game can move on down to their seats.

Who can deny the sense in having cheerleaders? It allows women to play an active part in Super 14, which you must admit is a male dominated sport and I believe that this will bring some balance to it in this regard.

We should rejoice in the fact that we support an organisation that is willing to invest in the arts in this time of economic instability where money for the arts is rapidly diminishing. Not only would it be a small but not insignificant addition to the badly needed economic stimulus but it should be regarded as a social and health stimulus. These young women will be given the chance to use the best fitness facilities and train with professionals, likely for the first time in their lives. Is that alone not a reason to encourage this.

It opens up a whole new world to the audience who will see these fine, fit, toned young women displaying their skills and hopefully encourage others to emulate them.

If it is being argued that it is a distraction then I suggest that this is a nonsense as there is many other things that could be regarded as a greater distraction while play is going on. Take the Blue Crew for an example. Not only could they be regarded as a distraction but they offer no style and are noisy. There is thunder sticks, Mexican waves, flashing advertising boards, noisy supporters, etc, etc, etc. If anything Cheerleaders would be a joy to watch during stoppages.

I hear sexist being cried out but I refute this. Look at this argument closely and you will see it is based on logic and common sense and if you see different then maybe you should look deeper within yourself before chanting the ridiculous and outdated feminist banter.

I suggest that to say no to cheerleaders is saying no to giving some young women an opportunity to improve themselves and maybe even move on to bigger and better things.

Hope that's just a bit of trolling. Just giving the girl an example of a cheer leading squad that not even the most ardent feminist could take offense to. Nothing to do with what code they cheer for old chap.

Maybe you should take a look if you are really anti cheerleaders. Have a day on the dark side. Trouble is it's a sellout if you haven't booked.

    Gotta love your League.

add to the atmosphere!? are u kidding me!???? god help us. you are at the game to watch RUGBY UNION not stupid bimbos in fkn lycra. if u want that, then go somewhere else.
It beats the pre match local media thrashw--- like goal kick shootouts for one legged fat guys, fastest community rugby player sprintoffs and roll the ridiculous sponsored foam footy to the other goal post charade that we have suffered over the last 4 years.

    Can the crap

    Get some spunks

    Cover them in not much

Give them a 15 minute cameo pre match and at halftime

Make them come to meet the player events so we'll have some genuinely interesting people to talk to instead of the half axes that can't string a sentence together

$BW was untouchable in minileague. He carved defences up. Every coach had him on the "to shut down" list

In the world game he got hammered........by our smallest player when running at full tilt 2m from the line

    Pure GOLD

Yeah, no course I do, Mr Erriott. Looks like you don't, but.

It was a great hit, but.

He's not even the smallest in the squad let alone in history.

    Back in ya box.

Yes, Indeed the WA Reds are too pov to have a 'professional' outfit, so they get the kids from Miss Mitzy's dance studio down the road (least the last time I went to the Mungos it was). It was indeed refreshing to see a cheer squad that didn't invite that very welcoming "phwoar- show us your tits" dynamic.

That said, there's something fairly unedifying about watching a bunch of pre-pubescents bumping, grinding, gyrating and generally "dancing sexy" before they (presumably) even know what it bloody well means. FM boots and hotpants are best admired on an 8 year old too.

But hey, they found a way to get involved in rugby. Here was I thinking an aptitude, hard work and study (a-la a Sports Science degree or similar) was a valid way to do that- FA, back to the drawing board for you- less books, more Lycra

I am strongly against cheerleaders. If you want to go see girls wearing no clothes prancing around, go to a porno shop and get a DVD
But they won't let my DVD player and Widescreen plasma through the turnstiles!

Now where's that bloody tongue in cheek smiley?

Cheap shots, Swee. Pretty ordinary inference too. I'm a little surprised.. There's kids all over the country doing that stuff and they are encouraged by their parents. Quite a few I saw were more like 38. But there were a couple of 8-10yo boys among them too.

The comment wasin reference to the fact that it was a RugbyWA poll.........

Not everyone can get a degree. Not everyone aspires to either.

Seems there is a wind of change...

Should the Emirates Western Force have cheerleaders at their games in 2010?

Absolutely. They will add to the atmosphere - 47.3%

Why not. A new venue, a fresh approach to fandom - 14.8%

Maybe. No opinion either way - 1.1%

No. They are a distraction to the game - 11.0%

Definitely not. I strongly object to the idea - 25.8%

    Total votes: 264
