Reds' Digby Ioane out for six months after shoulder reconstruction

Reds' Digby Ioane out for six months after shoulder reconstruction

    May 14, 2009 .

Destructive Wallabies winger Digby Ioane's 2009 season is over after being booked in for a shoulder reconstruction.

Ioane, who would have commanded a starting spot in Australia's backline for the domestic Test season due to his brilliant Super 14 form for Queensland, will be sidelined for up to six months.

The 23-year-old three-quarter initially injured his left shoulder in the Reds' 31-24 loss to the Lions on April 18 but played on before aggravating it against the Brumbies a fortnight ago.

Reds coach Phil Mooney said the decision to have an operation was made after a specialist examined Ioane on Wednesday and made in consultation with Test coach Robbie Deans.

"It's a real blow for Digby, who I'm sure would have walked into the Wallaby side this year on the back of his exceptional performances for the Reds at outside centre," said Mooney

Additionally Tyrone Smith is also made of steel... same foundry he’s just younger and faster....

Cameron Shepherd pisses all over the Brumbies outside backs.

Tyrone Smith is average. He just looks better because the rest of the Brumbies backline licks dogs balls.

    Please no licking...

Cam Shep scores soft winger tries... If he is fit he'll get a Wallabies run but he is a injuries make him a game on game off player... He may just take up space for another who can play to entire international season... Nevertheless Shep wont look so good next year without Matt Giteau...

I wouldn't under estimate Tyrone... but he may not get a Wallabies jersey this year…

Cameron Sheperd scores soft tries because he is at the right place at the right time...
Just use last weekends bomb against the Stormers.as an example.. How many times did Spanner get bundled into touch or have the ball passed behind him??? Spanner is no slouch but even he got it wrong last weekend, whereas Sheps has not put a foot wrong on attack all year (barring that one intercept attempt against the Canes - well that was defence anyway which is a different kettle of fish)
I'd put Sheps in there over any of the other contenders, even with his injury concerns.
My other bolter would be Cullett... hes been superb this year untill his injury.

Bianca Franklin look out Mudskipper is trying to move in on your man. Shep looked good for a Force team that was rag dolled for much of their first season he can sure as hell look good without Matt Giteau. Matt Giteau isn't god Muddy you don't need to worship him. Brace yourself for this but teams have actually won the Super 14 before without Matt Giteau.

Wasn't he with the Brumbies in 2004? Pretty sure he played for the Blues back in 1996 too. According to Muddy he's that good he can travel back in time.

....damn bad luck for Diggers.... If only George Smith wasn't 'had of steel'. The true reason Gits chose to go back to the Brumbies was to play on the same team as the man 'had of steel'.
