    Stadium Dictates Socceroos Shows

Jonathon Cook, out of "The Wst Australian" May 9 2009

Football Federation Australia is prepared to make make the Socceroos a regular fixture on Perth's sporting calender if the State Government backs a plan to redevelop Members Equity Stadium.

Soccer authorities are set to increase their support of the Town of Vincent's proposed $73 million upgrade of the old Perth Oval after RugbyWA pressed their case recently for improvements to Perth's Premier rectangular outdoor venue.

FFA officials have already met the State Government and more talks will be held next week

I couldn't find this article online, so I'll put this up while keeping an eye out. The Business case for any upgrade to MES is looking pretty strong

The article can be found on page 130 of todays West Australian

Thanks for that Jargs, I also heard on the radio news this morning that teh Federal Govt has some $8billion in unallocated infrastructure funding available. Why are Canal Colin and Boozewell not banging on Kevins door asking for these funds for infrastructure projects here in WA.

Maybe they have to do ithush hush on the QT so as to not offend the precious, sacred cow known as the WAFC

Well spotted Jargs... Just curious but, Page 130? in the saturday paper... where is that in relation to the 'back page'? Like, way from the back hidden away amongst the personals or fishing stories, for example? Or was it like, prominent?

Prehaps Andrew Dimitriss has already put the case to Kevin and he told him to get nicked.

Great news. The prospect of Socceroos matches is a huge carrot for the WA government. All governments want to exhibit their state capitals with international fixtures and after cricket, soccer and rugby are the only two that can provide that sort of coverage.
