    Brumbies' hotel burgled

Durban - Laptops and cellphones were stolen from a hotel room where some players from the Brumbies team were staying, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Monday.

Superintendent Jay Naicker said the players were staying at the Elangeni hotel in Durban.

"There was no forced entry into the players room.

"Hotel management did not report the robbery and resolved to solve the matter internally," he said.

Naicker was not able to confirm when the theft took place.

The Brumbies team was in Durban to play Sharks in a Super 14 clash on Saturday. The team lost 35-14.

In addition, Brumbies lock Shawn Mackay is in a Durban hospital after being hit by a car outside a nightclub in the city in the early hours of Sunday morning.

yeah, not reported AND handled internally. I'd hate to see some of the dodgey "internal" proceedings that may have gone on...

Perhaps more fuel for NZRU and ARU to tell SARU to jam it.

It does sound like the Sharks personnel have been extremely helpful and I'm sure the Brumbies touring squad are grateful for their compassion...

Certainly full marks to the Sharks and there would be no doubt the Brumbies would be grateful, but that isn't not the point.
These are just two more incidents that should never of happened in a long history in the Republic.
In an already tense relationship, such incidents would hardly help resolve negotiations.

“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White
