I’m no good at this, but I’ll give it a go
It started just over 4 years ago when I arrived in Perth and was so excited about the news that WA is getting its own team – The Western
Not only was I new in the country, but I couldn’t find anybody at work or in the neighbourhood that follows Union. Everyone just wanted me to get into GayFL. So I said I’ll give it a shot, but Union is still my passion. I watched a game or 2 with a mate from work and confirmed my suspicions……GayFL is sooooo not a man’s game, that was the last time I watched an AFL game. Long live Union!!!
Still unable to find someone that can talk about union and enjoy the game I decided to search the internet for some news on Western
On 15 September 2006 I discovered TWF via a search….Yes Yes Yes!!!
At last, I knew I was not alone out there.
I signed up and was by everyone…it felt so good to know that Union is alive in WA.
I soon discovered that not only did I find a website with people that love Western , but….they love getting together at for a pint…..or 12
So I visited and met TIF, he then introduced me to TLH and some other locals, but I can’t remember the names.
Then I took my first bus trip to ME stadium and met Coach, TG to mention a few and I knew that I was in the right spot.
Through the years I met other members and it feels like I’m part of a family again (I don’t have any family in Aus)
I was given the opportunity by TIF to get involved with the creation of a slideshow for our TWF Player of the year awards night – TIF thanks for trusting me with that and again thanks to the members that contributed with ideas for the slideshow..
I guess the idea of this post is to say thanks to everyone on this forum that me into this awesome site and hopefully I will meet more of you in person at a next event.
Coach (and everyone involved in site maintenance), keep up the good work.
That’s a wrap…..
