Force's Shepherd in the pink after ankle boost

Western Force wing Cameron Shepherd has been cleared of any serious damage to his left ankle and is in with a shout of featuring in Saturday's game against Sharks at Subiaco.

The Wallabies international had to come off early in the second half of the Force's 23-23 draw away to Crusaders on the weekend but an MRI scan today cleared Shepherd of serious injury.

“There’s no major problem there but it will come down to how well his ankle settles down leading up to the weekend,” said team doctor Mark de Cruz.

“It’s a new strain and is not related to his surgery last winter. The MRI has shown that the site of the surgery is settling well and this was an unrelated strain,” he said.

Prop Ben Castle (neck) and wing Nick Cummins (hamstring) will also need to undergo fitness tests late in the week before knowing if they are clear to face the Sharks.

Meanwhile Saturday's game will have a gentler feel to it - at least before the action starts - with pink markings, pink boots and the Force even wearing a pink strip.

The Force are raising funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation of Western Australia as well as paying tribute to their female fans with an official Ladies Day.

The day will include a curtain raiser match featuring Wallaroos’ World Cup Sevens champion and player of the tournament Debby Hodgkinson from the Cottesloe Rugby Club.

Good call. Let Shepherd have the Sharks game and the bye to be 100% and give Spanner a run instead.
