    Fava undergoes tests after convulsing

Wallabies star Scott Fava is expected to be released from hospital today after spending the night undergoing tests for a head injury he suffered in Australia's loss to Fiji in the bronze medal match of the rugby 7s tournament at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

Fava clashed heads with a Fijian player during Australia's 24-17 defeat and began convulsing on the field.

He was taken from the field on a medicab and later taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Tests on the Force player have so far come back all clear.

Australian team manager Gary Pearse said Fava suffered a second knock to the head when he fell to the ground.

"It didn't look good at the time but I think we have the best people there to look after [him].

"Unfortunately, I think there could have been a head clash and then I think he hit the ground with his head at the back. Unfortunately, that just happens in the game."

Pearse said such injuries were to be expected in elite sport.

"That was a really hard match and those things happen in a game," he said.

"It wouldn't matter if it were rugby or any other sport, when the head hits the ground, it could be skateboarding, it could be whatever, and Scottie's a tough bloke."

It was a real shocker of a hit and thankfully for the Mums and Dads factor they only showed snippets of him on the ground! It would have undone three years of positive promotion of the code if they had showed any more.
Hope you have a speedy return to health Scotty and everything is fine.

I didn't see it, but it sounds pretty sickening, the forst thing my Wife said tp me was that she didn't want my son playing the game (he's only 4 at thge moment) - I've ghot a few years to turn her around again... As Pearse said - can happen in any sport or activity.

    Hope you're OK Scott!

He has been released from hospital after spending the night in intensive care. No headache or anything just bad facial hair.

Well if my encounter with Force fans last weekend is anything to go by I certainly will be enjoying myself.

On another note does anyone else think that it was wrong the Scott's lovely wife Sarah was allowed on the field. IMO it didnt do either of them any good and it made the officials job harder then it already was.

I haven't seen it - but it apparently looked real bad, I think someone called it a 'death rattle' Given people thought it may be of a most serious nature, yes - she should have been let on. If it was clear that his condition would be the same 5-10 minutes later when he was off the field, she should have been kept back.
