League great Andrew Johns helping Super 14 rugby team the Sharks
    By Christian Nicolussi | January 15, 2009 12:00am

SOUTH African Super 14 outfit the Sharks have achieved what no other Australian rugby club has bothered to do - secure the services of the great Andrew Johns.
Johns returned from a week-long coaching stint on Tuesday and said the experience was "beyond my wildest expectations".

"I was blown away with their set-up and how the players accepted me, considering I was from the dark side (rugby league)," Johns said.

"It was the first time I had done anything using the principles taught to me in rugby league and crossing them over to union.

"I did a bit of everything. I think kicking in the NRL is now used as a big attacking weapon and I was just going through the variety of kicks, how to disguise the kicks, how to get the opposition out of position . . . other things like making sure the runners all arrive at the same time.
What a waste of time and money. What's with these Rugby coaches employing attack & skills coaches from a Rugby League background? I mean, hasn't anyone told them is all just 5 crash-ball plays followed by an aimless kick?

^^ he was, they didnt renew his contract

I dont think it is a waste of time and money hiring someone like Andrew Johns, the man is probably the best tactical kicker in either code, he knows how to do every kick there is in the book and he knows how to do them well..

Tactical kicking has become a extremely important aspect of rugby union now as well, Carter is a class act and Giteau and Barnes are pretty good at the tactical kicking, but none as good as Andrew Johns.

Maybe he still is, sounds like Joey was just on a short consulting trip. When it comes to tactical kicking and constructing plays Campo's not in the same league as Joey.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
