    Ch 9 to Broadcast RWC2011

Rugby finds a home on Nine | The Daily Telegraph

CHANNEL 9 has scored a victory in the television battle with Channel 7 by securing the Australian broadcast rights to the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups.

In a landmark deal with the International Rugby Board and in conjunction with Fox Sports, Nine has announced plans to deliver comprehensive coverage of the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand and the 2015 tournament.

7 haven't set the bar very high so it should be easy for 9 to do a better job.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I wonder whether FTA will get stiffed for all the big games.

Surely not anything with the Wallabies playing.

Not that I'll be watching it on tv anyway but, I think channel 10 did a really good job of last year's world cup, having Ben Darwin, Ben Tune, Rupert McCall & Bill Woods on the broadcast team was a good move, especially with Tune and Darwin doing the commentary, they did a MUCH better job than Channel 7's commentary team.
They also had segments explaining to the viewers how to pack a scrum and set up a lineout and showed what was happening around the villages where the Wallabies were staying. They set the bar pretty high for channel 9, but surely they can't do any worse than channel 7

i actually thought the Ch10 coverage of the last RWC was pretty good as well, apart from the fact that many of the games were after midnight which wasnt there fault anyway, it was pretty good coverage.

i too thought the Ch 10 coverage was great. Ch 9 dont have to do alot to beat 7 and i'm glad 7 didn't win the rights, even out of AFL season they would have stuffed us around

9 don't have a lot to do to beat their coverage of the Mungos here in WA. Let's hope the IRB/ARU set some conditions on the telecast rights. (For the unfortunates who won't actually be in NZ)

    Ditto RWC.

Anyway, I hate delayed coverage. Every Friday and every season come finals time.

true, but it is only for 3ish weeks vs the other 25 weeks. But some of the delays worked out well, saturday game starting at 8:30pm, friday game at 9:30ish. At least we got the GF live

The RWC is organised like the Soccer World Cup isnt it, no game clashes with another??
