I don't care, so long as it is "square"

Just like to get a feel for how dedicated people are to a move to MES.

Keep in mind that an upgraded MES will not have anywhere near the sideline seating as Subiaco.

During my long drive back this morning and listening to the talkback radio I cant believe how much we have stirred the rectangular stadium debate. Almost every second call or comment was about proper stadiums. Well done to everyone.

Burgs it's not about really about the shape - it's atmosphere - at MES at the ends you can here the lads calling to each other - you can hear the thud as they crash over the line - you can see the expression on their faces as they tackle - mostly you get a real sense of the speed and power - it's everything.

Of the multitude of factors and considerations that the whole stadium issue has, it's a no-brainer for me, i'll go where the Force goes.
Wouldn't miss a game for the world.

ps: i didn't vote because the option that best describes my point of view isn't up there.

    Jeez...

    "MESisacrapoption.com"

and two options that reek of wilful ignorance.

    push-polling much?

    Tell you what:

"I sooo want to like go to members equity so then we'll be closer to the players and they are like so totally off the scale hawt and if I sit at the end that's hot cos then I can stare straight at their butts"

cos that's about how much thought we've put into this right?

All the bizzo about revamping Subi again almost makes me nostalgic for the Albino Pachyderm (cos I'd still take 15m from the sidelines over 30). Then someone says something about it being 'suitable for all sports' and I start ranting again

TQ1 and NTT are right on the money. I guess at the end of the day i don't think a seat directly behind the dead ball line would be worse than where I am now, which is sort of in the 'corner' of the oval.

i will stick with the force. one horrible oval cannot stop me going to any games or from being a part of the force.

but i would really love to have a rectangle. TQ1 you got it, its the atmosphere that comes with being close to the game and subi just doesnt have it. we deserve that atmosphere...

im unsure as to how MES is bad. its a rectangle (i have only been there once and enjoyed myself a lot ) but why would it be... bad? (sorry if i sounds stupid, im very lost on the stadium topic)

I know what it is to watch at an appropriate ground TQ1 and I know what it is like to spend an entire half wondering what the hell is happening and which sides supporters are cheering the most because the action is down the other half.
If you are there for a social event with a heap of mates then it's great, if you want to watch the match live and not on the big screen (if there is one available) then it's crap.

Not so much push polling Swee as trying to make a point.
The bottom line is that the vast majority of people on this site will be in worse seats than they are now if they move to MES but people don't seem to want to accept that.
It is very simple, a smaller rectangular ground will mean corporates along the sidelines where the money will be spent and punters in the nose bleeds getting splinters where the money ran out.
There would be few who could out do me for passion and loyalty to the Force but I would find it very difficult to justify a seasons pass to go and watch six or sevens matches of arses in a good atmosphere.

That said, I will be interested in how many take the fourth poll option.

I, like swee, am in 322 which is one of the corners at the Subi end of the ground. I will go wherever the Force go. Being at MES would be better then Subi and being a few hundred metres away. Remember that distance of 30m away from the action is the closest seats.

Not a fan of MES Burgs? I am already in a nose bleed section in my silver seats

I don't know, but plenty were shaking their fists and threatening to in the first two years.

Quick squizz at the expansion plans says if the full expansion were done 65% of grandstand seats would be along the sidelines (not including suites/boxes etc). I'm not sure what the breakdown is of seats in the bowl is, when I get a chance to count up all the seats I'll whack it on here.
If they only ran to stage 2/3, that would see the Eastern and Western sidelines done respectively.

Of course it's not perfect, and at the end of the day i'm a sucker who'll go wherever the Force goes, but I'd love to see them play on a rectangular ground this side of my 40th birthday, and MES expansion is the only way I see that happening.

im in 307 in a kindof corner, but i will find the money to try and get the better seats at MES. they cant be much worse, im on the tryline already. but at the wallabies game i was around the back and i felt so much more involved in the game. i could sortof hear when play was near my end and it was easier to see what was going on.

how many does MES hold and how many will it hold if its updated?

The original upgrade plans (2005 brief) would have ended up like this:
    Stage 2- Eastern Grandstand
    Stage 3- Western Grandstand
    Stage 4- The Ends.
