Former Wallaby captain and halfback Des Connor will be inducted as the fourteenth member of Australian rugby’s Hall of Fame this weekend.

Fittingly Connor’s induction ceremony will take place before the Bledisloe Cup clash between the two countries that he represented with distinction, Australia and New Zealand, and in his home town of Brisbane.

Connor, the father of the ‘short lineout’ tactic, described his induction as a “great honour”.

“I’m delighted to have been selected,” Connor said.

“It adds significantly to what has already been such a rewarding time in Rugby.

“The friendships and the memories, the experiences in the game, have been wonderful.”
