Hear hear!! ; well said fs (on both counts)

As for what ruffles my feathers- work mates approaching me (as a mere workplace union delegate) asking how to join the union because they are in serious shizen and need help- then expecting miracles!

Robyn, as a former union delegate and HR officer I can say that to my knowledge your employer cannot make you pay for anything that someone has stolen whilst you are on duty. Said employer has a duty of care to also ensure you are not placed in position of danger (trying to stop a car driving away).

If your employer does take the money from your earnings then go straight to the Department that handles Consumer Affairs and lodge a complaint.
They are duty bound to follow it up.

    Best I can offer kiddo

is this bit: "An employer is not allowed to take money out of an employee’s wages without the
employee’s written authority to do so." That is from a PDF file called "Migrants working
in Western Australia". Since you are from saffer land I think that qualifies...

I expect you to give me a pina colada in chat tonight for all this work

    Thanks guys!

I didn't sign a contract to work there, I had a different boss when I first started who ran the place VERY differently, there were no contracts involved. I don't think they do contracts for casuals like me. And to the best of my knowledge there is no union for us. My lawyer of a mother nearly had a heart attack when I told her. The employees at this place are basically all young guys and girls, myself included, who don't really get unions and most of them put up with it. FS I don't really understand - find out who is worse out of whom?

B&B of course you can have a pina colada! Anyone else want one while I'm at it?

I believe our pink little Fulvio was suggesting that any employee who does not make it their business to join and support a workers union is perhaps a self interested fool, and if they get taken advantage of by an employer it is their own foolish fault that they have little power as an individual to do anything about it.

My colleague just came back from lunch and told me about some interesting goings-on down in the plaza today. Apparently QV1 management have hired some kids dance troupe to walk around the plaza to hand out Easter eggs and wish people a "Happy Easter from QV1". All good so far. She said they were dressed as 'bunnies' which I took to mean "easter bunnies", which seemed appropriate, possibly even cute. It was at a good 5 minutes into the conversation that I realised these kids are actually dressed as freeking playboy bunnies that I understood why my friend kept saying how 'creepy' it was.

    Seriously, that's messed up.

No it was he sounds distressed pick him up.

Well if you spent your time driving the bus instead of offering me parenting advice I would be off the bus at the next stop and he would be much happier!
