Neddies had a reliable kicker in 2nd grade, he was kicking them from everywhere.....until the final kick anyway. Not sure why they let him kick when he went on for 1st grade, his confidence would've been right down and his vision impared from the tears in his eyes

I can't work out why so many forwards do the kicking duty in Perth rugby. Soaks kicker in 2nd grade was number 7, Perth Baysie was using 4 or 5 in first grade as well. Seen a few hookers doing them as well this year. Both boys yesterday had good ability but surely one of the backs should be doing it?

The Soaks boy (No 7) who levelled the game at full time is to be congratulated on making the conversion under that pressure, tying the game and it was from a cruelish angle. Too bad they couldn't take the victory in extra time.

Obviously the best kicker gets the job and if its a forward then so be it but how bad is your flyhalf if your forwards are taking the penalty and conversion kicks?

I think your living in the past a bit there welshrugbyfan, I suppose the forwards should just stick to scrummaging and lineout's hey?

yeah i agree, there seems to be alot of forwards kicking at goals these days... but like i said they must like practising kicking seeing as they rarely get to do it during normal training and therefore get better than others!

YES!!!! Then it stops props chip kicking and trying to run ahead and picking up the ball. Just bloody hold onto it you big unit and run through people.

It's a structured game, forwards win the game the backs decide by how much.

best person for the job. Whats the problem if the best kicker in a team is a forward?

If a forward can chip and chase succesfully that would be brilliant to see

If the best person kicking is a forward it doesn't say much about the flyhalf or other backs, I'm old school I know I can't help it.

When has a prop ever chased down his own chip kick? Still can't work out why the biggest blokes on the field continually kick away possession these days. It's like the half back running into the tackle continuously like bloody Henjak used to do and getting the ball ripped of him by the opposing forwards. Use the forwards to make ground, you run in pick up ball and feed to backs when you can see an overlap, simple.

I'm an old school dinosaur, "Forwards UGG UGG run into player, kicking cost cartons after game"

I hope you don't if you think props should be kicking away possession. Are you honestly going to tell me any international coach thinks differently to me??

I guess that's why every teams kicker is a back. Tell me one team that has forwards taking the kicking duties at a top level, except for John Eales's one kick in the Bledisloe or Matt Dunnings one of freak drop goal that wouldn't have been so funny if he had missed.

See how long a Wallaby forward, or any international forward will keep his spot if he kicks away possession instead of running hard with the ball. If its a last resort then yes go for it but a forwards job is and always will be to do what forwards have been doing since bloody Bill picked up the ball at Rugby School and ran with it.

I hope you don't have any influence on junior rugby otherwise there will be 15 players wearing number 10.
