It’s a very rare thing but this Saturday night, on the grandest of Rugby occasions, the first Bledisloe Cup Test of the season against the auld enemy, the All Blacks, in the eyes of many Qantas Wallabies’ fans – the Wallabies will start as favourites.


They won’t be saying it too loud however in case someone hears. Probably the All Blacks’ supporter sitting right next to them.


But after last week’s heroic (two tries to nil) victory in Perth against the World Champion Springboks, the same Springboks who beat the All Blacks in Dunedin the week before, it’s easy to understand Wallabies’ fans raising their hopes.


Considering they are only four matches into the new Robbie Deans era, and learning a whole new way of approaching the complex art-form known as Rugby, last Saturday night in Perth the Wallabies were magnificent.

A big call maybe but if you look at the Wallabies performance it’s justified...
