    Never On A Sunday

Have you heard about the Local President who, having bought himself a Coach and a team, and having done pretty damn well out of it, is now lobbying like crazy to have the finals switched from a Sunday to a Saturday?

Turns out seven of his very expensive side are devout Mormons, and refuse to play on Sundays!

We had a Kiwi Rugby fella wanted to play for our Mungo team in Dampier many years ago. Introduced himself as "Elder Martin". After a couple of training sessions with the coach and everyone else calling him "Elder". "Nice move Elder." "Not coming to the pub after training, Elder?", the cruncher was " See you Sunday, Elder. Kick off is 3 o"clock at the back beach oval"

"Sorry, my religion doesn't allow me to play Sundays. BTW my name is Martin. I'm an "Elder" in the Church."

To the Preso that bought the team. What goes around comes around.

Michael Jones, the legendary All Blacks #7, also refused to play on a Sunday.

It killed us in the finals last year Fulv.

Uni 6th grade made the final last year and had 3 players at the world cup and another 3 couldn't play because it was a sunday and went against their religious beliefs.

What's wrong with Saturdays anyway... I always thought it was a pretty good day.

Better the day, better the deed.

That's what I was told while being dragged out of bed in the rain and cold on a Sunday morning to work in the cattle yards.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Mormons can;t play on Sundays, Jewish can't play on Saturday - if you want my opinion, Monday should be the sabbath for everyone - it's not like anyone actually works on a Monday...
