The Supporters Choice - Western Force Player of the Year Award Winner

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, and all supporters of the Emirates Western Force.

Over the course of the 2008 season, after each game, TWF members voted on a weekly poll and rated the players performance. Finally, the numbers are in and we have a winner!!

    --the Excel spreadsheet please--

It gives me great pleasure to announce the winner of the 2008 "Supporters Choice Western Force Player of the Year" is...

    Richard Brown!!!!

Richard joins the ranks of the Matt Giteau and Scott Staniforth and becomes only the third recipient of this most prestigious award.

From the barren plains of Julia Creek to the sun baked flats of Nudgee College, Brownie has progressed his game to the stadiums of the world and his award winning performance in the 2008 Super 14 led to his being selected the Wallabies Squad in 2008.

From all of us at TWF we'd like to congratulate Richard on winning this fine award and on really stepping up and having a fantastic season with the Force this year.

We will be having a celebration with Richard Brown and other players of the Force later in the year after they return from Wallabies duties - we're aiming for a similar time to last year, mid-December.

Those observant members who were at the TWF Awards last year at would remember that Brownie was in attendance that day and we hope that this is a trend that any prospective winners of this fine award turn up again this year.

    Congratulations Brownie!!!

“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. Nice! Now when he goes to the presentation at JB's, he won't have to hide up the back!

He certainly showed that last year when he came down to the awards night at JB's to 'face the fans' shortly after the team bonding session on Rotto...
