By JIM KAYES - The Dominion Post | Saturday, 05 July 2008

It makes for impressive reading. Bryan Habana was the IRB player of the year last year, South Africa's player of the year, the leading try scorer at the World Cup, he helped the Springboks win the tournament and scored the match-winner in the Super 14 final to boot.

"It is doubtful whether any player in any era has enjoyed a more successful 12 months than Habana did last year," the Springboks' media guide enthuses.

It goes on to insist that Habana not only has "blistering pace, lightning acceleration and quick feet" but he is also "the most threatening runner with the ball in hand in the world".

It's heady stuff, especially with the Springboks not renowned for playing expansive rugby. History paints them as a team that mastered the art of 10-man rugby.......

    Tri Nations, it's on, it's happening, it's a contest.
