France unleashes new pack of heavy hitters

FRANCE has signalled an all-out assault on the Australian scrum by selecting fiery props Pierre Correia and Renaud Boyoud for Saturday's Test in Brisbane, Wallabies forwards coach Michael Foley warned yesterday.

Like every other major international team, Les Bleus have scant regard for the Wallabies' scrum, believing it to be their achilles heel. Yet, aside from two free-kicks in the first 10 minutes for early engagements and a late full-arm penalty, there was precious little pay for France at scrum time in last Saturday's Test in Sydney.

At best the visitors finished marginally ahead in the set pieces but considering how overmatched they were in most other departments, they needed to dominate up front to have had any chance of springing an upset.

Enter tighthead Boyoud, a judo expert, and loosehead Correia who, as even the official French team pen pics concede, "has a fiery temper".
