Basically because all the central are so close together and it was too much of a root to try and divide who was north and who was south without someone questioning it anyway. It also helps perpetuate the whole Blue Blood v Blue Collar angst that the outsiders love to revel in

But aren't people who live south of the river a bunch of hicks anyway? While us Northies are the height of class and sophistication?

Yes, but there aren't enough Premier Clubs South of the River for a straight divide.

But the division you made makes many of the same mistakes that the ARU made in NSW during the ARC, I mean, say if the 'Outlying Outlaws' played in Joondalup Arena, would the people in Mandurah trek all the way up to Joondalup to watch them play? I doubt it, effectively cutting out alot of support right there...As for 'tribalism', I don't think such a grouping as the 'Outlying Outlaws' would work what-so-ever, what do Joondalup and Mandurah have in common? Joondalup is still in the metro area so there is no real feeling that they are outside of Perth what-so-ever...

North-South with the Eastern teams joining Souths maybe?

Direct Train line from Mandurah all the way to Joondalup - have to pass the pubs on the way to the Arena -10 min walk - train ticket is $8.50 ? now - can't see that as a major obstacle guess it depends on whether you like the pubs or not

But would your average fan(TWF people excluded) be bothered to spend a whole day travelling to watch a rugby match, will a whole family spend a few hours on the train to get to the rugby the other side of town? They'd just stay at home like what happened with the NSW ARC teams...

They could play at a central location - the Dockers don't play at Freo Oval after all...

I actually don't mind that club division Burgs came up with, although I'd kick Baysies over into the "Outlaws" team. That splits the premier clubs (where I assume most of the players would come from) 5 v 5, as well as making a nice 'west vs the rest' division.

You're probably right, I'm sure it'd help our case for an expansion of Members Equity as well.
