NEW Zealand police said Wednesday they are investigating an allegation against four players from the touring England rugby team after an incident in an Auckland hotel room.

The incident was alleged to have happened early on Sunday morning when the team was staying at Auckland's luxury Hilton Hotel after England's 37-20 loss to the All Blacks the previous evening.

“Whilst an allegation was brought to the attention of police on Sunday evening, no formal complaint has been received,” police said in a statement....

My money is on sexual assault. It would be about the only thing serious enough to warrant an investigation that might not be easily proven. They said in the papers over here that there aren't likely to be any witnesses because it was in the hotel room and so nothing will probably come of it.

the english team isnt important enough for the SMH to investigate, as no force players were involved..............

Perhaps the "incident" had something to do with players using soap in the showers after the game! They are English after all

A woman who spent the night with an English rugby player at the Hilton Hotel in Auckland has revealed how four other players entered the room and one stripped the duvet off their semi-naked bodies.

The woman says she was one of several who met the players and later accompanied them to their hotel.

Police have confirmed they are investigating a separate "serious allegation" involving up to four team members at the five-star hotel early last Sunday.

No formal complaint had been received by the police, who would not identify the person who made the allegation, a police spokeswoman said. England rugby coach Rob Andrew has backed his players and says the team is cooperating with the investigation.
